Alhaji Kirfi

Alhaji Kirfi is an accomplished technocrat and businessman with vast business interests that cut across various sectors of the economy, He had a distinguished career in both the public and private sectors that spanned over 28 years.

His career in the Public service began in 1951 as Clerical Assistant to the Bauchi Native Authority.  Between 1956 and 1978, Alhaji Kirfi served in different capacities in different ministries and administrative posts across the various provinces in then Northern Nigeria.  He was Permanent Secretary for four ministries, Health, Land and Survey, Education and Finance.  He retired as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Bauchi state in 1979.

Alhaji Kirfi since retirement has held various profile public and private appointments.  He was Minister of State, Ministry of Finance between 1981 and 1983.  He was chairman Bauchi State Pilgrims Board between 1986 and 1989.  Member, University Teaching Hospital Maiduguri, Member, Chairman University Teaching hospital Ilorin.  He was also a member of the Constitutional Conference.

Alhaji Kirfi is an experienced boardroom expert.  He was director of the bank of the north, Kano; Director, Steyr Company Limited and former Equity Bank.  He is well honed politician and statesman.  An accomplished farmer, Alhaji Kirfi is the Executive Chairman, Giwo Farms.  He is currently the Chairman of Giwo Holdings Limited and Contrad Nigeria Limited.

He attended the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria between 1968 – 1971 where he obtained a diploma in Accountancy.  He proceeded to the University of Manchester, U.K for a postgraduate course in 1971/72.  He is a member of several professional bodies.
